Joint Arthritis
Arthritis is a broad term that refers to inflammation of one or more joints, leading to pain, stiffness, swelling, and reduced movement. It can affect any joint in the body—commonly the knees, hips, spine, hands, and shoulders—and can gradually wear down joint function over time.
There Are Two Main Types of Arthritis:
-
Osteoarthritis (OA): The most common type, caused by wear and tear over time. It occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of your bones breaks down, leading to joint pain, stiffness, and sometimes swelling
-
Inflammatory arthritis (e.g. Rheumatoid Arthritis): An autoimmune condition where the body’s immune system attacks the joint lining, causing pain, swelling, and potential joint damage if not managed properly
Common Symptoms of Arthritis Include:
-
Aching, throbbing joint pain (especially after activity or in the morning)
-
Stiffness that improves with movement
-
Swelling and tenderness around the joint
-
Reduced flexibility and range of motion
-
In some cases, grinding, clicking, or joint instability
Arthritis doesn't just affect the joint—it can impact mobility, confidence, sleep, and overall quality of life. But pain doesn’t always equal damage, and with the right approach, many people can live active, fulfilling lives despite arthritis.
At Reform Clinic, we focus on active, personalised management. We combine targeted exercise therapy, manual treatment, joint protection strategies, education, and pain management techniques to help reduce inflammation, improve movement, and support long-term joint health. In some cases, adjuncts like dry needling, bracing, or taping may be used as part of your care plan.
Our goal isn’t just to treat arthritis—it’s to help you move with less pain, maintain independence, and feel confident in your body again.
